Hi, I’m Marissa! I’m a Master’s level therapist at Marble Wellness.

My Education and Professional Background

I earned a Bachelor’s in Education from Webster University, followed by an M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a Certificate in Couples and Family Counseling from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

I have spent over 9 years working as a Birth Doula and Educator, supporting women and their families throughout their prenatal, birth, and postpartum journey, and loving every moment of it! I have worked with various OBGYNs, midwives, hospitals, and birth centers across Missouri and Illinois, helping to build strong support systems for families. In my clinical practice, I work with adults, couples, families, and groups, focusing on areas such as grief and loss, trauma, substance misuse and recovery, partners of sex addicts, maternal mental health, and life transitions. My passion lies in using attachment theory, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Systemic Therapy to guide my work and help clients navigate their unique challenges.

I am currently a provisionally licensed professional therapist (PLPC) under the supervision of Kristi Machica, LPC, RPT-S. (License No: 2010031659-LPC; S2821-RPT)

How I Like to Work in Therapy

I believe the most important part of therapy is the relationship I build with my clients, with trust and safety being my top priority. We all have a desire to feel seen and understood and I work to build a connection with my clients that allows them space to explore and gain insights about themselves and their relationships. I pull from my own lived experiences which have afforded me the gift of compassion, which I think is a critical piece in healing our relationship with ourselves and others.

We will start with where you are at presently in your life; looking at what is working and what is not, oftentimes going back through childhood and adolescence to make sense of the patterns in life that may not be serving you any longer.

I consider being a counselor one of the greatest privileges of my life: acting as a guide, walking alongside my clients as they do the hard work of truth seeking and self-discovery.

Advanced or Relevant Training

Fun Fact

My Bernedoodle, Grizz, is currently in training to become a certified therapy dog! In my free time I love to get creative with interior design projects, cooking for my family and planning vacations.
