Hi, I’m Sarah! I am a licensed therapist at Marble Wellness.

My Education and Professional Background

I graduated with my Bachelor’s of Social Work from University of Tennessee in 2019 and then went on to complete a Master’s Degree from the University of Chicago in June 2022.

Throughout the past 5 years of social work, I have worked in a few different areas, including residential maternal-perinatal care, public schools and early childhood centers, and government and nonprofit settings.

This journey reflects my commitment to holistic care, which I am excited to continue to do with clients at Marble Wellness. I’ve worked for the City of Chicago, taking on administrative and policy duties, gaining a systems-level understanding of the challenges parents and families face, particularly in early childhood matters.

My experience with Loyola and Chicago Public Schools involved implementing Cognitive-Behavioral interventions, addressing a spectrum of mental and behavioral health concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress, relationships, and family issues. This, of course, included working with teachers and other school staff, as well as family members and adults in the lives of the students. Partnering with the whole family provided so much insight on how to work within the family unit.

Additional roles in other work settings have given me the opportunity to partner with families on pediatric and early intervention health, as well as a chance to provide counseling and support for pregnant women and new parents. This work especially emphasized the importance of managing mental health and substance abuse issues within the context of early relational health.

How I Like to Work in Therapy

In my role as a clinician, I’ve witnessed the profound impact of equipping individuals with tools from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This approach, effective for both children and adults, proves invaluable in navigating life’s myriad challenges — whether it’s the changes of parenthood, professional burnout, academic stress, or the ups and downs of everyday life.

My therapeutic style is informal, collaborative, and tailored to each person’s unique needs. I’m passionate about sharing information, setting achievable goals, and building strong, supportive relationships. I enjoy walking alongside individuals, both literally and figuratively. My primary focus is on general mental health, specializing in managing depression and anxiety.

I guide individuals in tapping into their intuitive knowledge to navigate tough emotions and life changes, fostering resilience and well-being.

I find immense joy in working with young people, helping them navigate intense emotions and unique perspectives often misunderstood by adults. I incorporate teaching methods, LGBTQIA+ affirming practices, and body-mind techniques, such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), to provide effective intervention strategies.

The most rewarding part of being a therapist is witnessing clients experience breakthroughs — empowerment, acceptance, success, relief, pride, joy, and fulfillment are not only their achievements but deeply fulfilling for me as a therapist.
