An Intro: What Marble Wellness plans to be in your life
My English teachers throughout the entirety of my schooling did too good of a job drilling in the whole need for an introduction “thing.” I have attempted to write multiple blog posts to have as the “first release” when the website is ready to go live. And of course I’ve tried to make those the perfect balance of Mindy Kaling witty, Brene Brown educationally deep, and a dash of Mean Girls/Parks and Rec/The Office/Anchor Man quotable.
Alas! I just could not progress beyond the first paragraph of each failed attempt. It has been so defeating and frustrating. I’ve tried writing first thing in the morning, as that delicious coffee is by my side. I’ve tried after a meal, with the blood sugar level appropriate and the brain warmed up. No dice.
But I think I just figured it out. I need an intro post before I can start to even attempt any others. So here we are, an introduction!
Marble Wellness is going to evolve over its lifespan. My trusty crystal ball was confiscated by TSA last time I flew so unfortunately I don’t know what that evolutionary process will look like, but I’ve been around long enough to understand that a) I’m not smart enough to get everything right from the jump and b) nothing remains static.
What I do know is this: moms need support. It’s both as simple and as complex as that.
When thinking about a niche for a private counseling practice, it was almost a no-brainer to form an idea around supporting moms and doing so in an all-encompassing way. So, that’s the plan. At Marble Wellness, you’ll be able to access individual counseling, support groups and wellness events aimed at both giving you an opportunity to make new mom friends, to pamper yourself outside of your house, and to get some education and inspiration about various wellness pillars and how they can have a positive impact on your daily living.
Support groups may range from being a stay-at-home mom with little ones to parenting teenagers or even transitioning to an empty nest. Support groups can offer some resounding feedback that some of the thoughts you may have daily that make you feel alone are actually felt by lots of other moms! Support groups can offer new tips and tricks on implementing a disciplinary approach when you feel like everything else has failed or how to find time with your older kids when a brand new baby has just arrived in the mix!
Wellness events may vary from a pampering-only focused session with information about the benefits of massages, yoga, or acupuncture to a kids-focused evening with a pediatrician, doula, and sleep trainer. There will be date night sessions where you and your partner can come learn about how to care for your one-on-one relationship with the introduction of kids to your household.
And of course: individual counseling. The quiet space where the other person in the room is focused for an entire fifty minutes on YOU! On your words, your body language, your concerns, your achievements. How often have you had the thought, “no one in my house listens to me!! I’m in charge and no one listens!” Maybe you even went to your secret stash of chocolate after that or found yourself sitting on the floor of your closet crying, wondering if this is the pattern for the rest of your days. Individual counseling is here to help you balance your needs with those of your family; to help you figure out your identity; to remove barriers that may have your mood down. And so much more.
And, of course, the blog. For read-at-home/during your lunch break/while you’re pumping/etc tips on everything from new ways to think about balance in your life to crazy things I’ve learned about sleep to tips on managing anxiety and/or depression.
Marble Wellness will evolve. But our focus on wellness and nurturing your emotional health will never stray.
