Five Fall Activities for Moms in St. Louis

As the vibrant colors of summer fade into the warm hues of autumn, St. Louis, Missouri, comes alive with a unique charm that beckons moms to step out and embrace the season. Fall in “the Gateway City” is a time of crisp air, pumpkin-spiced everything, and an array of exciting activities that cater to every interest. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, an art aficionado, or a foodie seeking the best seasonal delights, St. Louis has something special in store for you.

In this blog, we have 5 activities for you to consider to enjoy the season. Some are great with your kids, some can definitely be with your kids or alone, but all are designed to help you get out of the rut of your usual activities (those have a spot, but we want to help you feel some joy!)

So, grab your scarf and a cup of apple cider; it’s time to savor the essence of autumn in this enchanting Midwestern city.

St. Louis County Library

We must never forget the sheer amount of activities the libraries have! St. Louis County Library is having a Storytelling Festival from October 18-28th. I can remember Fridays in grade school, coming in from recess all worn out from four-square or a class-wide game of tag, and hearing the sweet, sweet words from a teacher “I’m going to pass around the candy jar and just keep reading to you our book of the month.” Even now, decades later, the memory fills me with relaxation and a smile. Check out the library’s schedule because whether it’s for you or your kids, being told a story is almost always a good idea.

Six Flags

Maybe you haven’t been since you were in high school, but can’t you remember the thrill of being in Six Flags After Dark? Bring out that childlike playfulness, let yourself get a little scared, ride some rides at night, and head over to Fright Fest. It’ll get you out of your head for a little while and it’s so fun to be on a roller coaster with kids (when they like them, anyway!). Or….hear me out….maybe you leave the kids at home and you make it a date with your partner or a night out with some friends!

Laumeier Sculpture Park

While we’re talking about activities “after dark”, do you keep up with events at Laumeier Sculpture Park? They always have cool stuff going on, besides just being an amazing park in general, but on November 4th, they have Laumeier After Dark. Fire pits, light installations, and more will all be there, making this a fun night to get out of the house for the whole family.

Endangered Wolf Center

Okay, this one is pretty cool. Have you ever been to the Endangered Wolf Center in Eureka? It’s pretty awesome, and they do “Private Campfire Wolf Howls.” How incredible is that? Your kids will surely love this experience and the adults will definitely get their thrills also.

Hike a trail!

Let’s not forget the numerous parks…some a little bit of a drive but hey, don’t you want to fill the time a bit?….that offer amazing trails to hike. This can be another activity for the whole family, you can use it as a date, or you can just do it on your own for some “me time.” We’ve all survived St. Louis summer, and might as well reap those beautiful, amazing, autumn benefits.

This means shaking it up sometimes–with your family or with yourself—and making sure to enjoy new activities, events, or surroundings. So trust us and try out one of the above (or maybe something else someone has suggested)!
